This blog explores what colonial women could & could not do in the European colonies along the Atlantic seaboard. For the most part, 17C women did not take part in the formation of government, as women in America did not get the right to vote until 1920. Of course, during the 17C, there were Native American women within the borders of what is now the USA, as well as other female European colonists.
