I love the story of John White making illustrations of native Americans done while exploring this country in the 15th C. I also love his fantasy illustrations of Scotland's ancient Pict tribe. Those are fascinating. I like the idea of an ancient people who would artistically decorate themselves in blue ink to frighten (psych-out) their enemy in battle. If they really did do that, more power to them. I'm sure it would have been disconcerting to Roman soldiers.
